2007 World Championship Book Truck Drill Team Competition at ALA

What could be more fun for ALA attendees than a book cart drill team competition on a Sunday afternoon? I can't think of anything. DEMCO sponsored the 2007 World Championship Book Truck Drill Team Competition at ALA in Washington D.C. and I must tell you, having had the pleasure of attending, that it was something to behold.

The four drill teams had it all together - music, choreography, costuming, and precision bookcart handling - and dazzled a large high-spirited crowd as they performed before a panel of judges. Pictured below, are the four teams knocking out their routines during the competition.

First Up

Book Cart Drill Team - ALA 2007

Second Up

Get Down with Your Funky Self - ALA 2007

Third Up

Delaware Diamonds - ALA 2007

Fourth Up and Competition Winners for 2007

Book Divas - ALA 2007

The Book Divas, Cy-Fair Independent School District, Houston, TX, were the winners of the competition.

A good time was had by all and people are already talking about next year's competition. Indeed, I have the notice for the 4th annual competition tacked on my wall because I love the picture of an energized individual jumping over a fully loaded book cart.
