2012 Best Practices for Government Libraries Now Available

The 2012 Best Practices for Government Libraries: Pushing Boundaries:  Mobility, Community, Accessibility is now available in PDF:  2012 Best Practices for Government Libraries in PDF. 2011 and prior years of Best Practices for Government Libraries are all available from the right sidebar here on the Government Info Pro. The e-book version will be released shortly.

Best Practices is a collaborative document that is put out annually on a specific topic of interest to government libraries and includes content submitted by government librarians and community leaders with an interest in government libraries. The 2012 edition includes over 70 articles and other submissions provided by more than 75 contributors including librarians in government agencies, courts, and the military, as well as from professional association leaders, LexisNexis Consultants, and more. 

As the editor of Best Practices for Government Libraries, I want to thank the contributors for sharing their knowledge, experience, and thoughtful perspectives in this year's Best Practices. It's summer conference season again and I want to share some information with you about LexisNexis at the 2012 SLA Annual Conference, being held July 15-18 in Chicago, IL. The SLA theme is:  The Future is Now!

LexisNexis Academic Wiki is now LexisNexis Academic Knowledge Center

Dear Colleagues, 

I’m happy to announce that our Academic wiki has officially been rebranded, redesigned, and completely updated. After analyzing a survey of our users, responders found the name “wiki” was confusing. Many thought that the “LexisNexis Academic Wiki” was actually our Wikipedia page. This is the reason that we have changed the name of our wiki to the LexisNexis Academic Knowledge Center. 

Goodbye wiki. Hello, Academic Knowledge Center! Take a look at the new page – preferably in Firefox: http://wiki.lexisnexis.com/academic.

This summer, the URL of the Knowledge Center will be changing, as well. I will ensure that all old “wiki” URLs will automatically redirect to the new Knowledge Center.

The redesigned Knowledge Center is meant to be more of a librarian-focused tool. You, the librarians, can easily point your users to the guides and help articles inside the site. However, the interface (main page) is meant to cater directly to the librarians. The Knowledge Center continues to be a hub for our social media efforts, so librarians can get new product information, even if they are not members of our listserv.
